Sonori release debut single and video “Vanity” + announce forthcoming EP
With their sound described as ‘cinematic, experimental journey music’ and ‘post-rock you can dance to’, it really isn’t a surprise that they booked their first gig – a roller derby – without having played a note together. They started out as an instrumental three-piece made up of looped cellos, guitars/keys and drum machines, and were eventually joined by the eclectic, ethereal vocals of singer Lulu. They quickly discovered that their individual skills and complimentary differences blended with their shared passions and friendly natures, resulting in a special, unique musical style.
They’ve come a hell of a long way since that first roller-skate date too, having picked up festival slots at Culturescape Katoomba, the Katoomba Winter Magic Festival and Psyfari Festival over 2016-17. They’ve also supported bands like Tijuana Cartel (world music from the Gold Coast), We Lost The Sea (post-rock titans from Sydney) and The Baldwins (progressive soul from Sydney), proving their cross-genre appeal.
Accompanying the release is Sonori’s first music video, filmed in a beautiful old church in their hometown of Katoomba. Shot by Big Button Films and directed and produced by band member Jasper, the idea grew from a central theme, with the full band stepping in and delivering stunning results.
Sonori’s self-titled debut EP is out November 20th and available for pre-order now.
