đŸ”„ FRESH FEED FINDS! đŸ”„ Discovering Tomorrow’s Bands Today — First Up: HEADWIRED (UK)

đŸ”„ Welcome to Fresh Feed Finds! đŸ”„

Ever been scrolling through social media and suddenly stopped because a band or artist completely grabbed your attention? That’s exactly what Fresh Feed Finds is all about!

We’re kicking things off with UK band Headwired — a young, seriously talented band that caught my attention and made me want to hear more.

Keep your eyes (and ears!) on Fresh Feed Finds, where I’ll be introducing you to exciting bands and artists I discover while scrolling — from those taking their very first steps to rising artists already making some serious noise.

Your next favourite band might just be one scroll away! đŸŽžđŸŽ¶

After hearing ‘Carousel’, I knew I had to find out more about Headwired. I reached out to the band, and Joe was keen to jump on board for an interview — giving us the chance to dig deeper into their music, their story, and what’s coming next! đŸŽžđŸ”„

Hi Joe,

I found Headwired while late night doom scrolling and immediately loved your single ‘Carousel’ firstly because of the bass, then the vocals and the lyrics. I then switched over to Spotify and listened to the whole song, asked Siri to add ‘Check out Headwired out tomorrow” and fell asleep. I am glad that I did that as I really enjoyed listening to the rest of your songs!

Firstly, as an Aussie I don’t know what you mean by coming from the Black Country in the UK, can you explain where that is?

How did you guys all meet and form Headwired?

The first thing that grabbed me about “Carousel” was that bassline. Where did it come from—and at what point did you realise you had something special with that song?

The beauty of talent I say! You must be stoked that you have already had some radio play! Do you have someone actively contacting radio stations or has that been like me, they found you on social media?

What does being a Black Country band mean to you? Do you think where you grew up actually comes through in your music?

You started out playing covers in Black Country pubs and bars. What did playing to people who hadn’t necessarily come to see you teach you about holding an audience?

I have been to a few shows like that and I shoot bands as well and I get my best work when there is not a crowd!

Any funny stories from your touring recently?

You were playing ‘Mirror Mirror’ live before you officially released it. When did you actually write the song, and how long had it been part of your live set before you decided it was time to release it?”

“Mirror Mirror feels bigger and perhaps more confident than some of the earlier material. Was that deliberate when you went into the studio, or is that simply a reflection of how much more confident you’ve become as a band?”

Ha! Shame you can’t remember! Did recording that at Liverpool’s Motor Museum with producer Ben Harper assist with this confidence?

Interesting! Would love to know that outcome haha!

Do you have somebody in the band who is brave enough to say, “That part is rubbish, get rid of it”?

That’s a sign of a close-knit band and a great sign for the future.

You’ve built this without a label or management. Has being completely independent made you more protective of the band now that the industry is beginning to pay attention? Are you planning at this stage to stay independent?

All the best with that Joe. Social media has played a big part in introducing people to Headwired. Your online growth has been a significant part of your recent popularity. Is there any pressure you feel that comes with watching numbers increase continually?

You’re moving from small local shows towards sold-out dates and bigger stages very quickly. What are you determined not to lose about Headwired as the venues get bigger?

You’re at that exciting stage where your future sound hasn’t been completely written yet. What do you want to look back in 5 years and think about Headwired?

Great answer! There are plenty of young British guitar bands around at the moment. What do you think Headwired has that makes somebody hear ten seconds and know, “That’s Headwired”? For me that would be the bassline, just interested if you think something else.

Forget venue sizes, the amount of streams and followers for a moment—what would actually make the four of you feel that Headwired had succeeded?

Can you nominate a member of the band for the following:

Thanks for your time and honestly, I wish you all the best for the bright future you have a head and I will be following you. Hope to interview you in 5 years and catch up again.
